Now that spring has arrived, the trails are calling—and Earth Day week is the perfect time to get outside and explore the New Land Trust!
As people head out to observe Earth Day on April 22 and celebrate the first signs of the changes in the landscape that the warmer weather brings, we’re inspired by the many ways folks are giving back to the planet—from planting trees to joining cleanups and making more sustainable choices every day.
Here at the NLT, the retreat of the snow reveals something else: the litter left behind. When you visit, kindly remember to pack out everything you bring in—including dog waste bags. Leaving them behind, even “just for now,” still impacts the environment and the experience for others. Please don't toss your trash in the outhouses either, as the moldering privy system only allows for toilet paper. Your efforts make a real difference and our volunteers thank you.
And here at the NLT, every day is Earth Day. From the miles of trail we care for to the habitats we protect, it’s all part of a shared commitment to the land we love, now and forever. Thank you for being part of it. Happy Earth Day and happy hiking!
